djenneba drammeh, multidisciplinary writer & astrologer

As an astrology writer, I’ve produced work for The Mountain Astrologer, CUSP App, Oui the People, Buzzfeed, and more, while also having the privilege of being featured by the Skillshare blog and Reader’s Digest.

I’m lead editor of the Kickstarter funded project Mercury’s Brood, a (prolifically late but) forthcoming compendium of astrological writing and art, showcasing historical analysis, personal narrative, and cultural criticism from emerging and established astrologers, thinkers, and writers.

On the spiritual front, I was raised in a Muslim-Catholic household in the East Bronx, eyes glued to a family desktop bookmark-riddled with Greek mythology, Wicca, Tarot, and Xanga links—lucky to never be discouraged from the pagan or esoteric at large, I was instead urged to interrogate any white-centric articulations of such and why they appealed to me. Soon the tony high school I’d attend would bring (by force) my attention to ethics, and with it, philosophy and theology. I’m still that witchy ethics nerd.

The perspective I bring to my writing and astrology is shaped by a black diaspora literary canon and feral curiosity. I find that the intersection of our interests triangulate niche spaces with lingua franca to match; if you recognize the language around these parts, or are just interested in getting acquainted with it, I’m glad you’re here.

I’m based in Brooklyn, New York and always interested in growing my NYC astro-fam.
